Mark Perkins has spent a lifetime in the 'art-world'. A childhood spent drawing and making visual images in countless sketchbooks, and encouraged by his parents to further his enjoyment.
Upon leaving Art College in 1974, equipped with membership of the Chartered Society of Designers, together with a Teaching Certificate from Leeds University, he began his career in Bournemouth at the town's largest Art & Design studio.
He was appointed Creative Director in 1976 and enjoyed nearly twenty years, producing designs for Advertising, Print-work and Exhibition stands.
In 1991 he finally left this work to take up his other love - teaching Art in secondary schools to students of 12 to 18 years of age.
Throughout this latter part he was able to indulge himself in producing illustrations and artwork, primarily for his pleasure but on occasions for selected clients.
Ill-health brought his teaching career to a close, and by this point he had much to say about the world.
He felt unable to exhibit work so devoted his energies into producing copious sketchbooks which became, in essence, visual diaries.
